Many years of experience have taught us that we should not be satisfied with small things, but strive for bigger ones. Think globally, act locally. Just as a house is built from the ground up, so a company is built from basic functions. With that in mind, we realized a long time ago that an organization is like a pyramid made up of cards…draw one and the whole thing collapses! It is necessary to “pinch” and coordinate each of the 4 (5) basic functions of management and there is no winter – success is guaranteed!
Reader, you must have heard or once used the expression “first jump and then say hop”!
In this short local saying, which is used every day, the entire essence of one of the most important segments in the business of every company, including our marketing agency, is explained. Think about it!
Can we function in life without a plan? I know you agree with my clear and loud “NO” as an answer, but I will help you understand why through our example.
Every day we face a series of different challenges and demands set before us by clients, which we mostly enjoy, but sometimes it happens that a task comes up that just seems boring to you. In marketing, as in any other job, there are tasks that inspire you and encourage you to work even harder, and on the other hand, there are those that you would rather kick under the carpet and go around…no one from our team ever does that. Why? A vision! Short question, short answer. In addition to weekly team meetings where we go over what we have done so far for our clients, four times a year we organize big ones, as we like to say, “Time for big ones”. We simply divide the working year into four quarters and organize them as we enter each subsequent quarter. When a person has a clear goal in front of him, it is much easier for him to do any work, because he knows what he is aiming for. So, when the time comes for the next quarter, we prepare and present our opinions and goals for the next period, and how to achieve them, which are always in line with our motto, “We create success”!
You’ve probably realized by now that I’m talking about planning, one of the most important functions both in business and in life. Put a clear goal in front of you and you have taken the first step towards success.
After the first step, we had to organize ourselves well in order to achieve our goals.
I’m taking you back to the beginning to understand the essence – What is organizing?
Different definitions appear in different books. The message is the same in all of them: Organizing is the way we connect the parts into a whole, so that a certain system functions better and with better quality. I know that now you have a boring definition in front of you and that you are wondering, “Why are you bothering me with this and what does this all have to do with marketing”, but as soon as you ask yourself that question, read the title of this “chapter” again and I think that you be more clear. Every day we use and play around with concepts that seem simple and clear, but are they?
As an expert in social networks, I want to tell you that launching campaigns from Ads Manager, and even copy and content writing, require you to approach them systematically. You have to be creative YES, you have to have inspiration YES, but there are certain rules and “sacred code” that must be respected when writing copy. Why is this being done and how will I approach the audience are the two basic questions I ask myself every time, regardless of whether I’m writing a blog, creating a visual or creating a campaign. There is a condition for me to be able to approach my tasks in this way. Get to know your client and their audience well! Nothing is left to chance!
Add up the organization of time and tasks, it’s the same…a job well done. You understand why I say that it’s a big journey that you won’t complete overnight, but take my word for it that all the effort and time invested will return to you a hundredfold!
Since I’ve already started acting as a mind-reading medium, I believe you won’t mind if I continue in that element and once again guess what’s messing with your neurons. “Why this subtitle?!”. Eh, if only this question were so easy to answer…
Boss is a word that has been embedded in our thoughts for a long time and we use it as a mold in which we put a person who is in a higher position than us. This term represents the silhouette of a person from whom you can only hear, “Go!”, “Do!”, “Think!”… This is precisely where the essence and key to distinguishing us from others lies. We don’t have a boss! A top team should have a leader, a leader who will say,,Let’s go”! Leadership, as the 3rd function, refers to the direction of our marketing organization up to two years in advance. Strategic plans are being formed that will predict the prosperity of our organization for the next period. It also refers to tactical positioning in relation to the competition and the market in the future, which represents one of the most important segments in the leadership function. We went one step further! Our “quasi boss” left us space and is open to all suggestions and ideas that could provide us with a contribution. In this way, the commitment of all team members grows, because we can see the result of our work in action.
Do you now see the difference between a boss and a “quasi boss”, between “go” and “let’s go”?!
It is interesting how great wisdom is hidden in simple sentences. Do you agree with me? I believe that I managed to prove it with this blog. I’m sorry I can’t sit with you while you read this sub-heading and hear what you think the last funk is referring to. I don’t want to keep you in suspense, control is 4.
Odd choice of quote for this feature, I must admit. If we were to go by sound logic, shouldn’t the control prevent mistakes…yes, that’s right. However, how can we see the need to strengthen control in our agency, if errors do not occur. How can we move forward and provide even greater value to our clients without them?! I had to mention to you the importance of mistakes, because they are a big reason why we are insecure and doubt our abilities. I have a completely different perspective, because I think they are significant or more precisely, necessary for progress. We are strict with ourselves, we set ourselves high criteria. That’s why I would rephrase: “We must not allow the same mistakes to be repeated!”
Well, it’s the control’s fault that we never repeat the same ones, and I’m grateful to her for that. The problem is how to implement and enforce control within the company. Through reading, you understood that we are one formed team that does everything together, nothing is different even when it comes to the last function. We represent a “value chain” through which all output material passes from the first to the last member. This method of implementation reduces the number of mistakes and simply does not allow them to be repeated, which I emphasized is the most important.
Throughout history, theories and definitions have constantly changed and been supplemented. In management, there used to be five rather than four management functions.
I’m sorry I misled you and made you think there were four, but it was your turn for me to judge you and see how much you pay attention to detail, because it’s all in them. You may have noticed that in the entire text only one word is bold. It is the last piece of the puzzle that will give you a complete picture.
If you remember the definition of organizing, you know that the quality of a system depends on the way its parts are connected. Thus, our functions represent one big system and the way in which we will connect them is important. This is where coordination comes in as the last function that represents the interface of the previous ones.
I hope you have seen how seemingly simple components represent a solid support and provide direction for the business and activities of a marketing agency. With the organizational structure formed in this way, nothing prevents us from providing our clients with fast, measurable and quality service.
It’s time for your opinion! Tell us in the comments how you liked the blog and if you haven’t already, follow us on social networks.
Cheers until the next reading!
